Phoebe Maris Nelson is an illustrator, fine artist, designer, and author who graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in May 2025. Since graduating, she has attained a publishing contract with Spinning Wheel Stories to write and illustrate her first picture book. She also regularly shares and sells her artwork at local markets.

Phoebe creates her artwork using cut-and-pasted gelli prints. Every color and texture in her pieces begins as a monoprint designed by Phoebe through brushwork, hand-carved stamps, and a collection of household objects.

Her artistic process has evolved from acrylic painting to digital collage and, ultimately, to traditional mixed-media collage. Always open to experimentation, Phoebe continually explores new materials and techniques, bringing a uniquely tactile and human quality to her work. She draws inspiration from the people, cities, plants, and animals around her, seeking to capture the beauty, humor, and unexpected details found in everyday life.
